R&S Landcaping launched Eco Earth Design, a new division that will focus on landscape design and build processes committed to resource conservation, intelligent irrigation and bio-diversity. The new company is a spin-off of R&S Landscaping, a leading regional design, build and maintenance firm serving Bergen, Morris and Passaic counties.

“R&S Landscaping has been committed to sustainable practices since our first day of business 24 years ago,” said Robert Schucker, president of R&S Landscaping and Eco Earth Design. “Today, one of first things people ask is how can I be more efficient and environmentally responsible? Eco Earth Design will provide sustainable, low-impact, outdoor design, build and after-care services.”

Eco Earth Design collaborates with architects, building managers, contractors, engineers, green consultants and business and property owners to create an integrated approach to landscape development. The company’s goal is to create ecologically sensitive outdoor solutions.

“It’s not enough to create a landscape that is environmentally friendly, which, of course, is the buzz phrase of the decade,” said Schucker. “The landscape also needs to be aesthetically pleasing with sound design principles. We provide well thought out eco-friendly and sustainable approaches to the design, building and maintenance of outdoor spaces – from roof gardens on the top of commercial buildings to public spaces and private homes.”

The company’s services include:

  • Green roof and living wall design and installation;
  • Storm water management solutions, including rain gardens and water harvesting systems;
  • Water efficient irrigation design and installation;
  • Bio-diverse landscape design; and
  • Organic grounds and plant care management.

“From green roofs, which can provide a wide range of public and private benefits, to beautiful landscapes without synthetic pesticides, Eco Earth Design has the expertise to make every project a success,” Schucker said. “Our seasoned team of experienced landscape architects, irrigation designers and project managers has more than 10 years of experience in ecologically sound landscape design and we are very excited about this opportunity to enhance environmentally responsible properties throughout the region.”
