Massey president wins leadership awards

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando-based Massey Services announced that Tony Massey, president and COO, has been awarded the 2012 Crown Leadership Award by Pest Control Technology(PCT) magazine and Syngenta Professional products.

The 2012 Crown Leadership Awards were presented at the National Pest Management Association convention in Boston in October. This award recognizes individuals who have contributed to the development of the pest management industry and established strong relationships with fellow business leaders, civic groups and customers in their local communities.

“We are extremely proud of Tony’s accomplishments and his most recent recognition for outstanding leadership in the pest management industry,” said Harvey L. Massey, chairman and CEO of Massey Services. “Tony’s commitment to our community, our industry, our team members and his family is exceptional.”

Tony Massey is a 23-year veteran of the pest management industry. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1989 with a degree in Corporate Finance. As president of Massey Services, he is responsible for all company operations including residential and commercial pest prevention, termite protection and landscape services.

In addition, the company also appointed Traci Thornton to the director of marketing position. In her new role, Thornton is responsible for market planning and program development for all of the company’s serv

ices, which include pest prevention, termite protection and landscape services.

Prior to joining Massey Services, Thornton worked in the highly competitive telecommunications industry for United Telephone, Sprint, Embarq and CenturyLink. Thornton also teaches courses in marketing strategy and management at the University of Phoenix/Central Florida campuses.

“We’re pleased to welcome Traci to Massey Services,” said Tony Massey, president and COO of Massey Services. “Her knowledge and experience in new market development, brand management, segmentation and digital marketing complements our company’s strategic direction.”

Thornton has a BBA in Marketing from Valdosta State University, an MBA in Entrepreneurship from Nova University and is a graduate of both Leadership Orlando and Leadership Winter Park. In 2010, Thornton was recognized as one of the 12 “Women to Watch in 2010” by Orlando Women’s Magazine.
