HERNDON, Va. – The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET)  announced that three companies recently became PLANET Academic Excellence Foundation (PLANET AEF) Ambassadors by pledging $25,000 donations to the Foundation, which awards scholarships to students enrolled in landscape contracting and/or horticulture programs at two-year or four-year colleges and universities.

Following are the newest PLANET AEF Ambassadors:

Miles and Lisa Kuperus, Farmside Landscape & Design, Wantage, N.J.
Chris Angelo, Stay Green Inc., Santa Clarita, Calif.
Bruce and Gail Wilson, the Wilson-Oyler Group, Santa Rosa, Calif.

In addition, David Minor, a Founding Ambassador and current PLANET AEF board member, has pledged an additional $25,000, elevating him to the Platinum Ambassador level. The name of his scholarship, which now includes his business partners, has been changed to the Landscape Partners and David Minor.

“On behalf of PLANET AEF, I want to thank our newest ambassador companies for their generous support of the next generation of green industry leaders and for helping us to reach further milestones to achieve our ‘5-by-5’ initiative,” said Jim McCutcheon, PLANET AEF president.

The ‘5-by-5’ initiative, launched in spring 2011, was developed by the PLANET AEF Board of Directors to help raise the fund balance from $2 million to $5 million over the course of five years. Today, the fund has grown to $3.1 million.

PLANET AEF accepts donations at any level. For more information about the PLANET AEF scholarship fund, call 800-395-2522 or visit PLANET’s website.
