Design/Installation

Designing the landscape for a supplier’s main office can go a long way in gaining new business.

The landscape at Unilock headquarters in Rittman, Ohio, serves as an exhibit for the product’s potential. And those patios, retaining walls, outdoor kitchen, pergolas and range of outdoor structures were designed and installed by JTS Landscaping based 10 miles up the road in Seville.

Back in 1990, Unilock was new to the country and had one dispatch facility in an old, Massillon lumberyard, describes JTS President Joe Pavlovicz. “They were talking about building a plant in Ohio, and the whole interlocking paving concept was something people hadn’t heard of at the time,” he says.

Eventually Unilock came to Rittman, Ohio, built a plant there and hired JTS based on a bid to showcase the company’s products out front of the offices. “We created a design for the front of the building that showcased the different paver stones,” Pavlovicz says. “It was a win-win situation because we were one of the first to work with the new (product) that was coming out.”

JTS continued to expand that landscape design for Unilock during a five-year period. There are four sections in the showcase, each a separate design, Pavlovicz says. “They had to tie together and flow, and feature the various products Unilock offers.”

It’s easy for Pavlovicz to point potential customers to a sample of JTS Landscaping’s work by simply telling clients to visit the Unilock plant and walk through the displays. And, JTS gains referrals from this and other suppliers. “We are on the top of the list for referrals with most of the suppliers we work with,” he says.
