Jan Bills gives some insight on what's she learned in the industry.

Sometimes, you just need a shot of positivity to gain the steam to finish a tough job, deal with a complicated client or work through a challenging personnel situation. Jan Bills, president of Two Women and a Hoe, sheds some light on owning a business in the green industry with a few quotes to live by.

“You have to be tough. Because people, by nature, are going to want to take you down. You have to say, ‘I’m not going down,’ and get right back up again.”

“I’m no spring chicken, but I’m flexible and I’m very strong. But there are nights when I come home and I’m dead tired. But I take a shower, get something to eat and get some rest and the next day, I’m all geeked again. We can’t have those tough days stop us.”

“When I was working in an office, there was nothing more grueling than to be suppressed. I thought, ‘I cannot live out the second half of my life like this.’ Every time I see my truck with my name on it, I am forever grateful. I don’t take any of it for granted.”

“Surround yourself with people who will lift you up. Find like-minded business owners and be around those people.”

“’Can’t never could.’ That’s what my brother, who is deceased, used to say to me. That is the mantra in my business.”
