North East, MD – i-lighting, the leading manufacturer of extremely easy-to-install, reliable and cost-effective exterior and interior LED lighting, recently celebrated the grand opening of its new 4,650 sq. ft headquarters and manufacturing facility with more than 100 government officials, customers and invited guests participating in the ribbon-cutting ceremonies held at 500 Principio Parkway W at the Cecil Technology Campus in North East, Maryland.

“It was an exciting and deeply rewarding day for everyone that helped i-lighting grow from an idea to a home-based business and now to a rising player in the LED lighting field,” said Scott Holland, president & CEO of i-lighting, LLC. “Our goal is to continually work with our partners and provide the industry with the highest-quality and easiest-to-use lighting products available in the marketplace today.”

Since 2005, i-lighting has steadily introduced a wide assortment of stair, deck and landscape lighting utilizing its proprietary “LED Lighting Simplified” connection technology. Most recently, the company received a $100,000 grant presented by Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley as one of the inaugural winners in the InvestMaryland Challenge, a national business competition held by the State to honor early-stage businesses operating in the life sciences, high tech and general business industries.

“i-lighting exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit that has positioned Maryland as one of the best places in the country to start and grow a business,” explained Dominick Murray, Secretary of the Maryland Department of Business & Economic Development, during the grand opening ceremonies. “The company was chosen from among hundreds of applicants to win the InvestMaryland Challenge. The State of Maryland is here today to not only honor i-lighting’s growth, but also its promising future.”

“i-lighting’s success is a refreshing reminder of what can be accomplished from an innovative idea,” added David Rudolph, Vice Chairman of the Economic Matters Committee in The Maryland House of Delegates. “From concept to reality, i-lighting is one of the fastest growing small businesses in our region. They are a model for success and the benefits that accompany hard work, planning and sound management. This includes partnering with government to build a solid business infrastructure that sustains growth and creates jobs within the community.”

In addition to Secretary Murray and Vice Chairman Rudolph, numerous members of the Cecil County Chamber of Commerce joined with Scott Holland and i-lighting employees in the official ribbon-cutting ceremony that offered presentations celebrating the company’s “outstanding entrepreneurial business development.” This included an Official Citation from The Maryland General Assembly, a Proclamation from the County Council of Cecil County in Maryland and the presentation of the area’s first VOLT small business loan awarded through Maryland's Small, Minority and Women-Owned Business loan fund.

Over the past eight years, i-lighting has evolved from a home-based operation to a leading industry player that has doubled sales in each of the past three years and is on pace to do so again in the coming year. As a result, i-lighting is poised to become a multi-million dollar organization based on the growing popularity of its Easy Plug Installation System, which can be installed in nearly half the time of traditional lighting systems and operated for only a few pennies per month.

Designed with a custom low-voltage DC system and patented Easy Plug connections, each stair, deck and landscape lighting kit contains everything necessary for installations such as fixtures and fastener accessories. The systems also include a lifetime warranty for its LED spotlights that use approximately 80 percent less energy than incandescent bulbs and are rated for 12-plus years of operation if used 24-hours-a-day/seven-days-a-week. Other specific benefits include a:

• Photocell technology that senses ambient light and automatically turns lights on and off for both safety and security, while adding convenience and reliability
• Remote dimmers and timers so users can set light brightness levels to their liking and then time the lights to turn off at two, four and six hour increments
• Lighting design that does not create heat and as a result is safer for pets and children, while attracting less insects
• Interior systems, which also provide options for battery backup emergency lighting during power failures
