The Maryland Turfgrass Council is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the improvement of the turfgrass industry in the State of Maryland. The Council was formed in 1972 and Incorporated in 1977 by persons actively engaged in the turfgrass industry.
The Council was formed to promote and unite the interests of individuals, organizations, public and private institutions, and industry for the improvement of turfgrass in Maryland. There was a need to bring together, in one organization, people from all segments of the turfgrass industry, including sod production and installation, golf courses, cemeteries, airports, highways, parks, schools, athletic fields, garden supply retailers, grounds management companies, architectural land planning and development firms, as well as homeowners and gardeners to build a strong organization capable of promoting turfgrass in Maryland.
