FAIRFAX, Va. — The Irrigation Foundation named Claire Ehrlinger, an instructor of horticulture at MiraCosta College, as the recipient of the 2017 Excellence in Education Award. Ehrlinger will receive the award at the 2017 Irrigation Show and Education Conference Nov. 6-10 in Orlando, Florida.

Ehrlinger is the horticulture lead instructor at MiraCosta College in Oceanside, California. She teaches several landscape and irrigation courses and is also responsible for managing all aspects of the department. She also has been involved with the Irrigation Foundation's Faculty Academy since 2004.

In addition, she is a lifetime technical member of the Irrigation Association where she has served as an Irrigation Foundation board of trustee member and has volunteered on several committees, including the landscape Faculty Academy planning task group. In recent years, she has worked in cooperation with the San Diego County Water Authority to develop curriculum and train professionals and homeowners in water conservation.

The Excellence in Education Award recognizes a person who is actively teaching or has taught agriculture or landscape irrigation, water management or water conservation in affiliation with a two- or four-year institution. This person helps supply the irrigation industry with educated professionals who provide efficient irrigation solutions that protect water and the environment.
