ORLANDO, Fla. – The Association of Fundraising Professionals awarded its H. Clifford Lee Lifetime Achievement Award to Massey Services Chairman and CEO Harvey L. Massey. The award is the organization’s highest honor and is presented to an individual who demonstrates a history of leadership and activity in philanthropy.
Massey has served as a philanthropist for 33 years. He and his wife, Carol, are longtime supporters of the central Florida community, especially in areas of the arts, health care and education. They formed the Harvey and Carol Massey Foundation in 2014 to solidify their personal and professional commitment and have made major contributions to the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center, Nemours Children’s Hospital for early childhood autism research, the Veterans Memorial Park of Central Florida, the Burnham Institute, Rollins College and funded a public sculpture for the “See Art Orlando” community project to name a few of the contributions.
“A key principle in our company’s guiding philosophy is, ‘Above all, we believe in being a contributing member to the communities in which we serve,’” Massey said. “We have embraced this statement and encourage all of our team members to get involved because we have always believed that when you take a lot out of a community, you have to put something back in.”
In addition, Massey has been recognized for his charitable work by various organizations. Most recently, he was inducted into the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans in March 2016. The award honors outstanding business, civic and cultural leaders who are committed to philanthropy.
