New book explains erroneous math in MORS estimating

Jim Huston’s new book, “A Critical Analysis of the MORS Estimating System,” looks at the various estimating methods currently being used in the Green Industry. The book is complimented by an audio book CD and a Microsoft Excel CD, making it a complete learning system for active contractors, startups, college professors, instructors and students.
 
“A Critical Analysis of the MORS Estimating System” is a scientific, step-by-step, comparative analysis of the Multiple Overhead Recovery System (MORS) estimating methodology and all six pricing methods commonly used in the green industry today. It explains the strengths and weaknesses of the six pricing methods and it shows how to avoid the erroneous mathematical assumptions found in these systems.
 
Comprised of a little over 100 pages and 11 chapters, Huston’s book expands on similar discussions in his two books, “How to Price Landscape & Irrigation Projects” and “Estimating for Landscape & Irrigation Contractors.” The new text covers the various estimating methods in Huston’s thorough but easy to follow style. All of the diagrams, exhibits and illustrations used in the text were done in MS Excel, and are available to the reader on the accompanying MS Excel CD. To enhance the reader’s learning experience, the audio book CD allows the reader to cover the entire book in a little more than one hour. This can be done by students in a study session setting or by contractors as they drive from job to job.
 
Jim Huston has been a management consultant, speaker and seminar instructor for the Green Industry since 1987. He is a member of the American Society of Professional Estimators and one of two certified professional landscape estimators in the world. “How to Price Landscape & Irrigation Projects” is his fifth book written specifically for the Green Industry.
