CLCA's San Diego chapter presents 52 awards

The association honored 23 local landscape contractors at the 2011 Beautification Awards.

The San Diego chapter of the California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA) recently honored 23 local landscape contractors with 2011 Beautification Awards for excellence in landscape installation and maintenance. Fifty-two awards were presented in 26 categories culled from 105 entries, which encompassed categories covering residential and commercial landscape construction, maintenance and renovation, along with water features, outdoor lighting and water-saving, California-friendly landscaping.

The three top awards were: Sweepstakes award for design and build construction to Ciro’s Landscaping, Inc. of Escondido for the Baldwin residence in Del Mar; President's Award for residential construction to Nature Designs Landscaping of Vista for its work at a wedding event site; and Judges Award for commercial maintenance to The Brickman Group of San Diego for its work at the La Jolla Country Day School.

Multiple award winners included: The Brickman Group of San Diego and Summit Services of San Diego, each with six awards; Nature Designs Landscaping of Vista with five awards; New Way Landscape & Tree Services of San Diego and Ciro’s Landscaping of  Escondido, each with four awards; Torrey Pines Landscape of San Diego and AAA Landscape Specialists of San Marcos, each with three awards; and Backyard Vacations of Carlsbad, H.A. Casillas Landscape of Bonita, O’Connell Landscape Maintenance of Carlsbad,  and Benchmark Landscape of Poway, all with two awards each.

Other companies receiving a single award included Lansker’s Landscape Design of San Diego, Mark Schroeder & Co. of San Diego, Columbine Landscape of Vista, Schnetz Landscape of Escondido, Kimo’s Landscaping of Carlsbad, Belle Terre Landscapes of San Diego, Allen Landscapes of Oceanside, Shasta Landscaping of San Marcos, Falling Waters Landscape of San Diego, Silver Moon Lighting of Poway and Town & Country Landscape Design of Encinitas.

A first place "winner" and second place "achievement" award were presented, although not all categories warranted both types of awards. Here is a complete list of categories and recipients:

-     Residential estate construction category: DeMaria Landtech for the Athan residence in Rancho Santa Fe (winner); The Brickman Group for the Bucknell residence in La Jolla (achievement).

-    Residential construction category: Lansker’s Landscape Design for the Davis residence in La Jolla (winner); Backyard Vacations for the Andrus residence in Carlsbad (achievement); H.A. Casillas Landscape for Seabright Lane in Solana Beach (achievement).

-    Residential estate maintenance category: Torrey Pines Landscape for the Glover residence in Rancho Santa Fe (winner); Mark Schroeder & Co. for Boulder Mountain Road in Poway (achievement).

-    Residential maintenance category: Columbine Landscape for Solana Beach Overlook in Solana Beach (winner); Torrey Pines Landscape for the Keitel Residence in Rancho Santa Fe (achievement).

-    Commercial maintenance - mixed use housing category: New Way Landscape & Tree Services for Liberty Station in Point Loma (winner); The Brickman Group for Hotel Del Coronado in Coronado (achievement).

-    Commercial maintenance - shopping outlet category: The Brickman Group for Carmel Mountain Plaza in San Diego (winner); The Brickman Group for Town Centre I, II, III & IV in Solana Beach (achievement).

-    Commercial maintenance - HOA/family housing category: O’Connell Landscape Maintenance for Santa Luz in San Diego (winner); O’Connell Landscape Maintenance for Otay Ranch 1 in Chula Vista (achievement).

-    Commercial maintenance – res/com category: The Brickman Group for Ventana Real in Carlsbad (winner); Ciro’s Landscaping, Inc. for Terramar Models in San Diego (achievement).

-    Commercial maintenance - HOA category: New Way Landscape & Tree Services for Breeza Owners Association in San Diego (winner); New Way Landscape & Tree Services for Mulberry at Bressi Ranch in Carlsbad (achievement).

-     Estate landscape renovation category: AAA Landscape Specialists for the Hong  residence in San Diego (winner); Summit Services for the Karetas residence in Rancho Santa Fe (achievement).

-    Large landscape renovation category: Summit Services for the Jumayao residence in San Diego (winner); Summit Services for the Sherman residence in Encinitas (achievement).

-     California friendly small landscape construction category: Benchmark Landscape for Soledad in San Diego (winner); Nature Designs Landscaping for the Botta residence in Escondido (achievement).

-    California friendly large landscape construction category: Nature Designs Landscaping for a wedding event site in Alpine (winner); Schnetz Landscape, Inc. for the Hoehn project in Del Mar (achievement).

-    California friendly landscape maintenance category: Benchmark Landscape for Soledad in San Diego (winner); Nature Designs Landscaping for the Botta residence in Escondido(achievement).

-    Small (A) design and build construction category: Backyard Vacations for the McMullen residence in San Diego (winner); AAA Landscape Specialists for the Vanderpool residence in Carlsbad (achievement).

-    Small (B) design and build construction category: Summit Services for the Giner residence in San Diego (winner); Kimo’s Landscaping for the Mellon residence in Oceanside (achievement).

-    Medium design and build construction category: Summit Services for the Taylor residence in Vista (winner); Belle Terre Landscapes for the Newall residence in Oceanside (achievement).

-    Large design and build construction category: Ciro’s Landscaping for La Fortune residence in Del Mar(winner); Allen Landscapes for the Van de Grift residence in San Diego (achievement).

-    Estate design and build construction category: Torrey Pines Landscape for the DiCerchio residence in Rancho Santa Fe (winner); DeMaria Landtech for the Athan residence in Rancho Santa Fe (achievement).

-     Model home complex category: Ciro’s Landscaping for Terramar Models in San Diego (winner); no achievement award presented.

-    Public works construction category: Shasta Landscaping for Palomar College Multi-Disciplinary Instructional Department building in San Marcos (winner); no achievement award presented.

-    Water feature category: Falling Waters Landscape for Mozart Avenue in Cardiff (winner); Summit Services for the Sherman residence in Encinitas (achievement).

-    Landscape lighting category: Silver Moon Lighting for the Schmidt residence in San Diego (winner); AAA Landscape Specialists for the Hong residence in San Diego (achievement).

-    Humanitarian award: Town & Country Landscape Design for Eagle’s Nest Garden at San Elijo Elementary School in San Marcos (winner); no achievement award presented.

-    California friendly irrigation/water smart commercial category: New Way Landscape & Tree Services for Eucalyptus Ridge Military Housing in Lakeside (achievement).

-    California friendly irrigation/water smart residential category: H.A. Casillas for Justin David Textiles in San Diego (winner); Nature Designs Landscaping for the Smith residence in Rancho
