Workshop to focus on green roofs and walls

The 2012 National Green Centre will host sessions on new green design techniques.

Attendees can learn how to embrace rooftop urban agriculture, water management and green wall design techniques at the 2012 National Green Centre.  In partrneship with with Green Roofs for Healthy Cities, the North American association from Toronto, Canada, these three half-day courses will be offered at the National Green Centre:

  • Integrated Water Management for Buildings and Sites
  • Introduction to Rooftop Urban Agriculture
  • Green Walls 101: Systems Overview and Design

 

The Integrated Water Management for Buildings and Sites course provides technical and economic information on the design and performance of a fully integrated site and building water management system based on the “Net Zero Water” concept.  Introduction to Rooftop Urban Agriculture discusses multiple approaches to growing food on rooftops through design and maintenance principles and case studies drawn from across North America.  The Green Walls 101: Systems Overview and Design course discusses design and construction best practices for green facades and living walls, as well as the latest research findings on the environmental benefits of these technologies.

The National Green Centre, presented by the Western Nursery & Landscape Association, will be held Jan. 8-9, 2012 in Kansas City.
