STIHL received a 2010 Breakthrough Award for its HSA 65 hedge trimmer, the first model in a planned platform of cordless products.

The honor came from "Popular Mechanics," which today recognized 10 products for innovation.

The HSA 65 hedge trimmer is the first product with 36-volt STIHL Lithium-Ion battery-power technology. The company plans to introduce two string trimmer models in the spring and a chain saw and a blower in the fall.

The STIHL HSA provides environmentally responsible hedge trimming, producing no exhaust emissions and reducing noise. The product is ideal for residential areas, public parks, roof gardens, hospitals and municipalities.
