4-SPEED Herbicide and CISTERN Soil Surfactant and Humectant Complex join the lineup of products available to green industry professionals

LOVELAND, Colo. – Direct Solutions announced the debut of CISTERN Soil Surfactant and Humectant Complex (CISTERN) and 4-Speed Herbicide (4-Speed) as the newest members of the organization’s green industry product offerings.

CISTERN contains a blend of multi-functional soil surfactants that have been carefully "tuned" so their components work together to address hydrophobic conditions in the soil profile. The formulation behind CISTERN, developed and marketed by Numerator Technologies, Inc., incorporates a mixture of hydrophilic humectants and hygroscopic compounds that when used in combination with the product’s surfactant blend will enhance plant tolerance to water deficit and heat stress.

“CISTERN offers turf managers a great new tool to combat moisture stress,” said Bob Raley, agronomist, Direct Solutions. “For lawn and landscape professionals, CISTERN is a potential new revenue stream to sell to clients for improved turf during times of drought or watering restrictions.”

The post-emergent herbicide was created to eradicate weeds in 24-48 hours. 4-Speed is labeled for cool and warm season turf and effectively controls more than 100 broadleaf weeds, including dandelion, plantain, oxalis, chickweed and other hard to control species.

“4-Speed is aptly named as it combines the power of four proven herbicides – pyraflufen, MCCP-p, dicamba and 2,4-D – in one,” said Raley, noting that manufacturer Nufarm has deep-rooted expertise in weed control products. “4-Speed is a great fit for Direct Solutions as it is labeled for a wide range of turf applications, which makes it ideal for both lawn care operators and golf course superintendents.”
