New survey finds economic conditions affect professionals' earnings.

WASHINGTON – The average salary for landscape architects is $71,100, a decrease of more than $3,000 since 2008, according to a national survey by the American Society of Landscape Architects.

The salary dropped from $74,500 in 2008, which is a reflection of the economic conditions facing the profession.

The survey found licensed landscape architects have an average salary of $77,700, while the average salary of those without a license is $52,700. Private sector landscape architecture professionals reported an average salary of $68,200. The average salary for public sector professionals was $74,000 and the average salary for academics was $100,500.
