Paul Morgan doesn't think twice about giving back to the community.

Paul Morgan, owner of The RainHarvest Company in the Atlanta area, believes strongly in giving back to the community. Though it doesn’t always bring in a lot of profit and can often mean a huge commitment of time and resources, Morgan says it’s simply the “right thing to do.” In fact, when WaterWorks caught up with him to do our interview, Morgan was on a project for a local farmer’s market and community garden.

“In this local community, there’s an urban farm that’s been established as well as a farmer’s market to sell the produce from the farm, but the problem is there’s no source of water,” Morgan explains. “The organizations are non-profits and can’t afford to buy water. We offered our services pro-bono to design the system and if they decide to actually put it in, we will do it at a greatly reduced cost. It will basically mean no profit for us, but it will be an opportunity to showcase what we do. The bigger picture, however, is what it does for the community. We recognize that the non-profit really can’t pay what we typically charge but we still want them to see the benefit of what we can offer.”

This is just one of many times Morgan’s company has gotten involved in urban farms, community gardens, and other non-profits. “It’s a great opportunity to give back,” he says. “We don’t end up getting much business out of it, but that’s not always what it’s all about. Sometimes it’s just about doing the right thing. We want to see the urban agriculture effort succeed and we feel proud to play a role in that success.”
