IJAMSVILLE, Md. – TruGreen LandCare has appointed Vidu Kulkarni as CEO upon Mac McIlvried's decision to leave the company to pursue outside interests.

Kulkarni joins TruGreen LandCare with more than 20 years of professional experience in the commercial and industrial sectors, most recently serving as a senior executive at United Technologies Corporation (UTC), a publicly traded Fortune 50 company.

“Vidu has an impressive track record of enhancing operations, building strong customer relationships and delivering results,” said Kevin Dowd, chairman of TruGreen LandCare. “His background and experience are well suited for his new role at TruGreen LandCare as we work to further strengthen our position in the industry. We also thank Mac for his service and leadership in transitioning TruGreen LandCare into a successful standalone company and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

McIlvried remained president of TruGreen LandCare after private equity firm Aurora Resurgence bought the company from ServiceMaster earlier this year. From 2008 to 2010, the underperforming TruGreen LandCare saw revenue drop $78 million to $238 million. Aurora bought TruGreen LandCare for just shy of $38 million – a fraction of the $250 million ServiceMaster paid for it in 1999.

In May, Joshua Phillips, managing director of Aurora Resurgence, told Lawn & Landscape that management would stay in place. In that same interview, Phillips outlined TruGreen LandCare’s 12- to-18 month outlook. “Over the next year and a half we expect the footprint to look similar to what it looks like today – if not potentially some additional locations we’d open from organic growth or acquisitions. We’ll have the same leadership team in place and the same organizational structure going forward,” he said. “No wholesale changes planned – really just a continued focus on growing the business and driving profitability.”

Prior to joining TruGreen LandCare, Kulkarni was president of the Americas, and Australasia regions, for UTC's Fire & Security business segment, a $6.5 billion division.  In these roles he led large branch based businesses providing electronic security and fire safety services to commercial and industrial customers in North America and Australia/New Zealand.

“This is an exciting opportunity for me,” Kulkarni said. “TruGreen LandCare is a great company and a respected service provider in the commercial landscaping industry.  I am delighted to be part of the TruGreen LandCare team and look forward to working with our talented associates to accelerate the company's performance.”
