Kichler Lighting announces product enhancements, training program

Landscape lighting training programs and new variations of the LED Path Light Collection and Pro LED accent lights are now available.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Kichler Lighting introduces new designs and finishes for two product lines as well as a landscape lighting training program for 2012.

Seven new designs have been added to the outdoor path lighting collection, Design Pro LED Path Lights.

“Based on the popularity of our previous LED path lights, we have expanded this collection to appeal to a variety of geographic regions and homeowner tastes,” said Jeffrey Dross, Kichler’s corporate director of education and industry trends.

With a 40,000-hour lifespan, Kichler’s Design Pro LED Path Lights emit a warm, white light using 75 percent less energy than incandescent lights and include a 15-year residential warranty. The lights eliminate voltage drop by operating anywhere between nine to 15 volts while producing the light output, as well as a CRI in the mid-80s.

New additions include:
• Design Pro LED Ripley Path Light
• Design Pro LED Pyramid Path Light
• Design Pro LED Forged Look Path Light
• Design Pro LED Tiki Shade Path Light
• Ripley Pyramid Forged Look Tiki Shade
• Design Pro LED Shepard’s Crook Path Light
• Design Pro LED Shallow Small Shade (½” stem, 6” shade)
• Design Pro LED Shallow Large Shade (3/4” stem, 8” shade)

Kichler has also announced three new finishes for the Design Pro LED Hardscape, Deck, Step and Bench Accent Lights.

“These new colors meet contractors’ needs to efficiently light even the tightest spaces in a wider variety of stone and deck applications,” said Jeffrey Dross, Kichler’s corporate director of education and industry trends. “Additionally, they give homeowners the ambience desired for enjoying their outdoor living areas and the benefit of low maintenance.”

New finish options include:
• Sand (SD) – Ideal for sandstone, river rock and naturally-toned retaining walls or stone work, as well as light-colored natural or composite decking.
• Gray (GRY) – Great for slate, charcoal and other heather-toned retaining walls or stone work. Also ideal for clay, slate gray or smoky-colored composite and finished natural decking.
• Textured White (WHT) – Use with white or ivory stone, white privacy fences, lattices, decking, pergolas, etc. This finish can also be used for wood and vinyl.

Kichler Lighting will also host hands-on educational seminars for a wide range of skill levels in 2012.

With four training courses to choose from, attendees ranging from novice landscape lighting specialists to industry veterans can earn credits toward the American Lighting Association’s (ALA) Certified Lighting Consultant designation.

During the courses, attendees discuss the basics of lighting installation, learn the differences between incandescent and LED systems, and discover how wattage and beam spread are selected. Fundamentals of electrical and voltage differences are also covered.

“Our training classes help landscape lighting professionals advance or increase their number of services, and therefore increase their revenues,” said Ronald Carter, Kichler’s corporate trainer and conductor of landscape lighting training classes. “By teaching them how to do these jobs the right way, we also help them keep their customers coming back.”

Dave Lewis, owner of A-1 Sprinkler Service in Allison Park, PA, who has attended a training program the past two years, said, “I felt so much more comfortable after the hands-on install. I actually sold two jobs that first week back. It was a great confidence builder.”
