Richardson is a Horticulture professor at the University of Arkansas, where his research focuses on the management of warm- and cool-season turfgrass systems. Much of this work has been focused on golf course systems, but he has also worked on sports turf, lawns, and sod production. Over the past decade, his work has also included research on enhancing biodiversity in turfgrass systems and restoring native grassland habitat in the prairie regions of Arkansas. He has been recognized with numerous awards for his work, including being named a Fellow in both the Crop Science Society of America and the American Society of Agronomy, and was also recognized with the Fred V. Grau Turfgrass Science Award by the Crop Science Society of America.
