The Southern Nursery Association hired two new employees: Tamiko Lowry as customer service coordinator and Stuart Lee as director of communications.
In other news, SNA established the Arthur A. "Buck" Jones Scholarship Endowment Fund in the memory of the SNA 1995 past president who died Oct. 1 after a long struggle with cancer.
Due to the need for applied research to assist Maryland’s horticulture industry and to address the needs of public interest, the Maryland Nurserymen’s Association established the Maryland Nurserymen’s Association Horticulture Research Foundation to conduct resource development, disseminate funds for research, solicit research project requirements from MNA members and communicate its statistical results to MNA members.
The New York State Turfgrass Association elected its 2000 officers and directors: Joseph Hahn is president, John Rizza is vice president, Steve Griffen is secretary/treasurer, Jim Hornung is western region director, John Halloran is at large director, and reelected for 2000 is Ken DeCerce as northeastern region director. Anthony Peca, Jr. also continues on the board as past president.
