Association News: Nov. 1997

The Associated Landscape Contractors of America announced the release of its 18th Crystal Ball Report. The report takes a look back at the impact these reports have had on the industry in past years, where they’ve hit the mark and where they’ve missed. It also tracks 25 years of trends in landscape contracting.

The Professional Lawn Care Association of America will be holding its 3rd Annual Management Conference in San Diego, Calif., Jan. 28 – 31 at the Embassy Suites LaJolla. The Golf Classic and networking opportunities will continue to be a part of the experience, but PLCAA has switched to a one-speaker, workshop style format. The speaker will be Kevin Kehoe, Kevin Kehoe & Company, who will present “Professionalizing Your Management Approach.”

The Florida Turfgrass Association elected David Barnes as its 1997-98 president during its 45th annual Conference & Show in Tampa. In related news, the FTA raised more than $63,000 for future turfgrass research at the show.

The South Carolina Landscape & Turf Association recently moved to a new location. The address is P.O. Box 10447, Columbia, S.C., 29207. The organization will be hold its 22nd Annual Landscape Contractors’ Turfgrass Management & Grounds Maintemenace Conference in Jan. 14, 1998, at the Sheraton Columbia Northwest.

The Oregon Association of Nurserymen announced that Terry Thornton, sales manager, wholesale horticultural supplies division of Teufel Nurseries, will serve as its 62nd president.
