Greenway Landscape Design & Build, of Escondido, California, specializes in turning blank new construction lots into functional outdoor retreats. The Verna Rose project in Poway, California, exemplifies this transformation. With no existing landscaping, irrigation, drainage or hardscaping, the company designed and built a vibrant, low-maintenance space tailored to their client’s lifestyle — one that was peaceful, inviting and perfect for entertaining.
The biggest challenge for Greenway was starting from scratch and ensuring that all elements — from paver pathways and a custom fire table to artificial turf and a water feature integrated into a retaining wall — blended seamlessly. Engineering the proper drainage, irrigation and hardscape-to-softscape transitions required meticulous planning. Additionally, incorporating a “wet look” dry creek bed at the entrance, mature strawberry trees and colorful plantings added depth, texture and vibrancy. Over 10 weeks, the team executed a custom 3D design-to-build plan, ensuring every detail was installed with precision.
This project stands out because it showcases how a personalized landscape can elevate a new construction home, turning a blank slate into an artful, functional retreat. Greenway says its client was so happy with the results, they called the company “the Nordstrom of Landscaping” for its craftsmanship, attention to detail and collaborative approach.
