The Irrigation Show 2008, which is Nov. 1-4 in Anaheim, Calif., promises to bring attendees not only the latest irrigation products from manufacturers, but also timely topics that are shaping the evolving irrigation industry.
Attendees will find the show a resource for education courses, industry certification exams, technical and business sessions, committee and common interest meetings, plus networking opportunities. More than 350 exhibitors will be on the exhibition floor as well as the popular new product contest showcase. This year, sessions led by water management experts will be a new show feature. Some of the highlights of the show include:
Keynote Speaker to Address New Water Management Approaches
Peter Gleick will be the keynote speaker at the General Session Nov. 3. Gleick will cover new water management and use approaches to meet global requirements for safe drinking water, adequate sanitation, agriculture and environmental protection.
As cofounder and president of the Pacific Institute for Studies in Development, Environment & Security, Gleick is a recognized expert on the critical connections between water and human health, the hydrologic impacts of climate change and international conflicts over water resources.
New IA Brand To Be Unveiled
The Irrigation Association will launch its new visual identity at the show.
The new logo and brand will better:
- Communicate the IA’s role in bringing industry stakeholders together to define and implement water management best practices.
- Support expanded efforts to promote efficient irrigation and the importance of working with irrigation experts.
- Enhance IA’s credibility with policy makers at the local, state, regional and national level.
- Unify the association’s major programs, including certification and the show.
The new identity will be unveiled Nov. 3 during the general session.
Grower Forum & Reception and Contractor Reception
Monday, Nov. 3 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., moderated by IA’s new agriculture affairs director, Erin Field, the second annual Grower Forum will examine challenges facing California’s San Joaquin Delta; how the Endangered Species Act impacts water available for agriculture; and other environmental and regulatory issues affecting irrigated farms. A one-hour networking reception will follow the discussion.
