TULSA, Oklahoma -- A Tulsa man who was in the hospital after fighting a thief has died. Jaime Saldivar was mowing a lawn on Sept. 15, when police say a man tried to steal his work truck and lawn equipment. It happened in the 2300 block of North Yukon.
Witnesses told police Saldivar owned a lawn mowing business. Police believe he jumped onto the running board of the truck and began fighting with the thief. When the driver floored it, police said Saldivar fell off and hit his head.
Saldivar died of his injuries on Sunday.
Tulsa Police recovered the stolen truck the same day and say all of the lawn mowing equipment was still there.
News On 6 crime reporter Lori Fullbright spoke with Saldivar's wife Monday. She spent the afternoon at the funeral home making arrangements.
All Tulsa Police have to go on in a heavy set white guy jumped in the truck in the 2300 block of North Yukon.
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 596-COPS.
