This project involved crafting a country-style residence for a recently retired couple seeking a tranquil haven for themselves and their family. The couple emphasized the need for a luxurious entertaining and gathering place where they could host friends and family in style. To achieve this, the design blended modern and contemporary aesthetics with the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape. The result was a fusion of clean lines, sophisticated materials and organic textures. Van Zeeland Nursery & Landscape located in Appleton, Wis., incorporated a diverse array of plant life — including vibrant shrubs, stately evergreens, delicate perennials and graceful ornamental grasses — to introduce depth and visual interest throughout the property.

One of the significant challenges of this project was the region’s high deer population. To ensure the longevity and beauty of the landscape, Van Zeeland conducted extensive research and carefully selected plant species known for their deer resistance. This approach allowed them to create a thriving and visually appealing landscape that could withstand the challenges of the local environment. The project encompassed two distinct areas.

The front yard was designed to exude warmth and welcome. This particular property features a sprawling green yard with a long entry driveway, which helped to create a stunning entryway. The backyard was the true centerpiece of the project. It featured a luxurious swimming pool, hot tub, comfortable seating area and elevated gardens that offered stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

The Van Zeeland team dedicated approximately one month to the successful completion of this project, ensuring that every detail was meticulously executed to meet the client’s vision and create an exceptional outdoor living space.
