Life-long Madison resident Mark Barnes established Barnes, Inc. in 1981. Today the company employs more than 150 people and provides landscape maintenance, design and installation and snow removal services in the area, serving both residential and commercial customers. Barnes not only encourages its customers to implement green practices, like installing a rain garden and planting drought-resistant plants, they also demonstrate sustainability. The company operates 28 pieces of propane-powered equipment and has saved considerably on fuel, maintenance and downtime costs.
