Several equipment companies unveiled new product lines or product features on mowers on the first day of the International Lawn, Garden & Power Equipment Expo, held through Oct. 8 at Louisville’s Kentucky Exposition Center. Among those to exhibit their most recent commercial mower advances were the Snapper and Ferris brands, Hustler, Lastec, EverRide and Great Dane.
Among the new features in the Snapper Pro line are the Snapper Pro 3500 Series, which features a bigger footprint, added stability and a repositioned Roll Over Protection System. Among the mowers the Ferris product managers featured was the three wheel rider, which offers a floating deck, a hydro-gear drive system and an 8-mile-per-hour ground speed.

Hustler shared a new feature, the flex fork, which allows the mower deck to adjust easier to rough terrain. The seat flexes as well, making mowing more ergonomically feasible for the operator.
EverRide and Great Dane are standing by their new stand-on mowers. The EverRide Scorpion FX stand-on mower is designed to make the ride comfortable because it distributes impact throughout the rider’s legs and body. It is also designed to be more stable on hills. The Great Dane Surfer, another stand-on model, has a 52-inch-deck and allows users to climb curbs, make quick turns and trim around obstacles, the company says.

In addition, Lastec announced it continues to make improvements on its articulating deck. Company CEO Jeff Laskowski reiterated what he said at last year’s EXPO: the Articulator mower, which consists of three decks which can angle to compensate for different types of terrain, will cause a shift in the commercial turf care industry. Laskowski says there has already been a shift in the golf course maintenance industry to include articulating decks, and the commercial industry will be the next to realize the benefits. The articulating deck mowers have evolved to include models that offer cutting widths from 63 inches to 100 inches.
More new products and features from the 450 exhibitors will be unveiled and explained as the indoor and outdoor exposition continues. For more information on the event, visit www.expo.mow.org.
