GLENDORA, Calif. ?Rain Bird Corp., a leading manufacturer and provider of irrigation products and services, is taking its sprinkler savvy to the small screen this fall as they apply water-saving irrigation expertise to each of the project homes featured in the 2005 season of Discovery Home Channel's newest show 'Garden Police.' With it's debut Aug. 4 at 8 p.m., Rain Bird was called upon in each of the snow's initial 10 episodes to provide on-site expertise and hands-on guidance as the Garden Police crew feverishly worked to transform eyesore landscapes into outdoor masterpieces.
"Although it was certainly a change of pace having to design and install an entire sprinkler system in a matter of hours, what better way to demonstrate the importance of efficiently designed irrigation to create a beautiful landscape that does not waste water?" said Rain Bird's Bob Silva. "It was really rewarding to see the final result of each project and the gratitude of each family after we finished renovating their yard."
Scheudled to air throughout the fall on Discovery Home Channel as well as on the United Airlines In-Flight Network, each episode of Garden Police features hosts Michael Glassman and Shirley Bovshow as they patrol suburban neighborhoods looking for eyesore landscapes. After locating the offending landscape, the Garden Police "bust" the homeowner and put them to work transforming their yard into the talk of the town in less than 48 hours.
"We knew from the inital planning stages of this show that irrigation would play an important role in renovating the landscapes and Rain Bird was vital to the success of each makeover project," said Lisa Ely, Garden Police supervising producer and director. "We recently revisited the homeowners from the first episode and found that their lawn and plants were as beautiful as the day we left htem. In fact, they had turned their living room couch to face their front window, opting to watch their new yard instead of the TV!"
"Rain Bird certainly made my job easier," said Garden Police co-host Michael Glassman. "And because of their input on the show, homeowners will have a much easier time maintaining their new landscapes. Because of the great irrigation systems Rain Bird put in place, I don't think any of the families we busted will be repeat offenders."
Rain Bird irrigation products will be features exclusively in all 10 episodes, in addition to irrigation advice from Rain Bird experts.
