CLEVELAND – Lawn & Landscape magazine, a monthly trade publication serving the professional lawn and landscape contractor industry, has announced the release of its fourth annual Top 100 List – a compilation of the 100 largest companies in the green industry based on 1999 year-end revenue. The list is published annually as part of the magazine's State of the Industry Report.
Collectively, this year's Lawn & Landscape Top 100 generated a total of $4.3 billion in revenues with an average of $43 million per company. These numbers represent substantial growth from the $3.6 billion ($36 million average) earned in 1998. The 2000 Top 100 companies enjoyed an average growth of 18.79 percent in 1999. According to this year’s survey, California and Illinois are home to the most Top 100 companies with 14 businesses headquartered in each state.
"In a highly fragmented marketplace, Lawn & Landscape magazine’s annual State of the Industry report has set the research standard for the industry," said Cindy Code, group publisher of the Lawn & Landscape Media Group. "We are committed to providing the most accurate, detailed analysis of this dynamic marketplace."
The Top 100 List was compiled from financial information requested by Lawn & Landscape from its readership. The complete Top 100 List is featured in the Lawn & Landscape State of the Industry Report in the October 2000 issue and online at www.lawnandlandscape.com by clicking here.
The Lawn & Landscape Media Group, a division of Cleveland-based GIE Media, Inc., is publisher of Lawn & Landscape and Interior Business magazines, sponsor of the School of Management and Business Strategies Conferences, and developer of the green industry's most interactive web site – www.lawnandlandscape.com.
