2009 Nashville Lawn & Garden Show to Feature Many Flavors

Tennessee’s gardening event marks its 20th anniversary

The diversity of garden styles, plants, flowers and growing techniques will be celebrated when the Horticultural Association of Tennessee presents the 20th Annual Nashville Lawn and Garden Show, Thursday, March 5, through Sunday, March 8, 2009, at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds. Staged to the theme, Yards of Flavour, many regional, national and international gardening trends, techniques – and tastes – will be experienced in a variety of ways at the 2009 show. An acre of live gardens will form the centerpiece of the event that will also feature a series of 20 free lectures and cooking demonstrations, a floral design gallery, and 250 exhibit booths. Tennessee’s premier horticultural event, the Nashville Lawn and Garden Show attracts more than 22,000 people annually and is one of the largest gardening shows in the South.

“For our 20th anniversary, we have put together a show filled with the ‘flavour’ of all types of gardens – traditional Southern gardens, formal English gardens, romantic Italian gardens and, of course, tasty vegetable and herb gardens,” said Randall Lantz, co-manager of the show.

The live showpiece gardens are created by professional landscape designers.  Most of the gardens include water features, ranging from small fountains to large waterfalls, and elaborate structures such as rock walls, terraces, pergolas and gazebos. The show also includes 250 exhibit booths of horticultural products, services, and equipment for show and sale; in 2008, vendors from 12 states participated in the event. The show’s spectacular floral design gallery features the work of more than 25 of the best designers in the mid-south region.

The 2009 Nashville Lawn & Garden Show will open at 10 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. each day, except Sunday when the doors close at 5 p.m.  Admission to the show is $10.00 for adults; $9.00 for seniors (age 65 & up) and $1.00 for children 12 and under. Four-day show passes are $15.00. Discounts are available for groups of 15 or more adults when purchased in a block. Tickets may be purchased on-line through the show’s website. All events are indoors and there is ample free parking. The show is fully handicapped accessible.

Proceeds from the show are used by the Horticultural Association of Tennessee to fund horticultural projects throughout Tennessee. For more complete information, call the Nashville Lawn & Garden Show office at 615/876-7680 or visit www.nashvillelawnandgardenshow.com.
