The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved the registration for DuPont Acelepryn insecticide. Acelepryn has been proven by independent university researchers in over 500 field trials to control every white grub species and other key U.S. pests such as the annual bluegrass weevil, billbugs and caterpillars. Acelepryn also boasts other industry firsts:
- The ability to control multiple pests with a single, early application
- The lowest application rate ever utilized for white grub control
- An active ingredient with the lowest water solubility of any white grub control product
- An entirely new class of chemistry and mode of action active ingredient
- Excellent environmental profile
- EPA Reduced Risk classified active ingredient
- Low impact to non-target organisms such as beneficial arthropods as well as bees, birds, fish and mammals
“Acelepryn represents a break-through product that introduces new levels of performance plus environmental and toxicological attributes that simply didn’t exist until now,” said Chuck Silcox, Ph.D., global product development, DuPont Professional Products. “Independent university researchers have confirmed that the mode of action for Acelepryn provides superior control of the 10 key white grub species, and other important turf insects including annual bluegrass weevils, billbugs and caterpillars. Our customers tell us this makes Acelepryn an obvious choice for their insect control programs, and its minimal impact on beneficial arthropods makes it an excellent choice for their IPM programs.”
Acelepryn is designed to control white grubs and other turf-damaging pests on a wide range of sites, including golf courses and commercial and residential turf sites. Acelepryn is approved for use to control key pests infesting landscape and recreational turf, as well as landscape ornamentals including trees, shrubs, foliage plants, flowers and non-bearing fruit and nut trees.
The launch of Acelepryn is another major achievement of DuPont’s ongoing commitment to develop products that are highly efficacious and gentle on the environment. Its active ingredient, DuPont Calteryx, was granted reduced-risk status by the EPA in April 2007 for applications to turfgrass. Calteryx has been tested in independent studies and proven to have minimal impact on beneficial arthropods, birds, fish, bees and mammals. In addition, Calteryx, the active ingredient in Acelepryn, has the lowest water solubility and lowest application rate ever utilized for white grub control products.
