Actor Ed Begley Jr. to Speak at Irrigation Show

The actor hosts an environmental reality show “Living with Ed” on Home & Garden Television.

Actor and environmentalist Ed Begley Jr. will be the keynote speaker at the Irrigation Association’s 28th International Irrigation Show in San Diego.

Begley, who received six Emmy nominations for his role on the long-running television series “St. Elsewhere,” currently hosts an environmental reality show “Living with Ed” on Home & Garden Television. The show takes a humorous look at Begley’s personal crusade for environmental responsibility. Begley’s home is solar powered, and he generates energy for his toaster by pedaling a stationary bicycle.

“Ed Begley Jr. is humorous, energetic and inspiring as he shares his ethic of personal responsibility for the environment,” said IA Board Member Phil Burkart, vice president of The Toro Company. “Hearing Begley’s viewpoint will not only entertain, it can help as all broaden our perspectives as we do business in a changing world.”

To accommodate growing attendance, IA’s keynote and general session are moving from a breakfast to theater-style seating.

In addition to Begley’s presentation, the session will include remarks from IA President John Roberts as he completes his year as president of the IA, an introduction of incoming President Doug York, industry awards presentations and the results of the new product contest.

Begley’s recent movie credits include recent Christopher Guest satires “For Your Consideration” and “A Mighty Wind.” On television he recently had recurring roles in “Six Feet Under” and “Arrested Development” and guest starred in “The West Wing,” “The Practice” and “Boston Legal.” He’s also appeared on stage in the West Coast premier of "Cryptogram” and “Romance.”

Begley is known for turning up at Hollywood events on his bicycle, living in a solar powered house and promoting eco-friendly products like hybrid cars and natural cleaners.

The Toro Co. is sponsoring the morning’s events.
