As green industry professionals look for ways to continue boosting the industry’s professionalism, more invest the time and money associated with becoming certified. By demonstrating the ability to pass any tests necessary for the designation, these individuals illustrate their competency to their customers, coworkers and peers in the business.
Now, two leading industry associations – The Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCA) and the Irrigation Association (IA) – are working together to make this process even easier for their members. The two groups announced the formation of an alliance that will feature shared exam locations as well as shared member pricing.
“The alliance encourages individuals to become certified in all the ALCA and IA programs offered,” noted the two associations in a release. “There is a natural progression of certifications available for the landscape contractor with an interest in irrigation and for the irrigation specialist who is involved in other aspects of landscape contracting.”
ALCA offers the Certified Landscape Technician – Exterior in Irrigation certification as well as the Certified Landscape Professional designation. Meanwhile, the IA offers the Certified Irrigation Contractor and the Certified Irrigation Designer options as well.
