HERNDON, Va.- Professor Frank Millsap of Richland College, Dallas, Texas, has been honored as the recipient of the Associated Landscape Contractors of America’s (ALCA) first Outstanding Educator of the Year Award.
Millsap has more than 20 years of teaching experience and currently teaches full-time at Richland College, where he is the coordinator of the horticulture department. He previously owned and operated his own independent landscape business and is currently affiliated with Dallas-based Amigos Labor Solutions, a company focused on helping to place labor into the lawn and landscape market. After a long and distinguished professorial career, he plans to retire from teaching later this year.
As evidence of his quest for excellence in the future of the green industry, Millsap has been heavily involved in the ALCA Student Career Days, serving as host of the event twice during its 25 years of existence. He has served on several ALCA committees, is actively involved with the Certified Landscape Technician (CLT) program and has been instrumental in establishing and refining the accreditation process for colleges and universities nationwide.
The Outstanding Educator of the Year award was developed by the ALCA Educational Foundation, in cooperation with the Accreditation Committee, to recognize professors who have made a significant contribution to green industry education. Educators nominated for this award have poured time, energy and enthusiasm into their programs and the education of future leaders in the industry.
