Thirteen industry professionals can now add a hard-earned title – certified landscape technician – to their business cards.
The collection of landscape contractors recently passed the CLT-Exterior exam, administered by the Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCA).
The exam is a daylong event testing candidates’ ability to properly use equipment, demonstrate an understanding of handling plants and related materials, and pass written general comprehension tests — all within a strict time frame. Candidates select a specialty area (maintenance, installation or irrigation) and are judged based on skills and knowledge needed to perform tasks in that area.
