Established in 1998 by the Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCA), the ALCA Educational Foundation (AEF) awards scholarships and funds educational activities for the landscape industry. The AEF keeps growing stronger as it announced its thirtieth and thirty-first gifts at the ambassador level of $25,000.
These most recent gifts came courtesy of Debra Holder, ALCA’s executive vice president, and the Friends and Family/Phil Christian Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Holder, a 22-year ALCA employee, has led the association for nearly a dozen years. “It has been my privilege to work with the many entrepreneurs of the green industry for more than 20 years,” noted Holder. “The amount of time, energy and true passion that is given by so many in the green industry has always been inspiring. It is a privilege and an honor to be able to give back to this industry that has been so rewarding and personally fulfilling for me.”
“I am delighted that Debra Holder decided to become an ALCA Ambassador,” enthused Dick Ott, president of the AEF. “Isn’t it inspiring to have ALCA’s executive vice president and an AEF board member make this major decision to give back to the green industry?”
Phil Christian was a well-known industry consultant who focused his efforts on helping landscape professionals boost their productivity on the job. Upon his death in 1998, his family and friends launched an investment fund for an annual scholarship in his name, which resulted in this donation.
