America in Bloom partners with Joe Lamp'l

This summer, AIB judges will scout filming locations for the 2012 season of "Growing A Greener World."

As America in Bloom’s judges visit American cities from coast to coast this summer, they will also be scouting for potential filming locations for the 2012 season of the award-winning TV show “Growing A Greener World.” Locations must meet the television program’s mission of telling the story of people, places and organizations that make a difference in this world through gardening.

"I am very excited to have AIB's keen sense of discernment as they travel the country seeking the best of what America has to offer,” said Joe Lamp’l, the show’s executive producer and host. “They already understand that great gardens can build a rich community. We look forward to seeing what they discover for us as well as for the America in Bloom organization."

AIB board member and judging chair, Jack Clasen, added, “Our judging team is the best ever and they’re looking forward to sharing this exciting opportunity with our participating towns and cities.”

The show was founded by Lamp’l, otherwise known as Joe Gardener. Prior to launching “Growing  A Greener World,” he hosted “Fresh from the Garden” on DIY Network and “Garden SMART” on Public Television. He’s a popular author on the speaking circuit, engaging the public in person and online through his social media platforms.

Lamp’l has become a big supporter of America in Bloom (AIB) and its efforts to revitalize communities and make them more livable and sustainable. In addition to presenting awards to the winning cities in St. Louis last October, he will be a keynote speaker at AIB’s 10th annual awards symposium in Crystal City near Washington, D.C., on Oct. 7.
