HAARLEMMERMEER, Netherlands – Nurseries nationwide have joined together to create the AmeriGarden, the U.S. garden at Floriade, a world horticulture exhibition. The AmeriGarden is an integrated display of plants, flowers, aquatics and ornamental fish on a 5,400-square-foot area that more than 3 million international visitors will view during the six-month show from April to October.
A second, smaller indoor space located near the main outdoor garden will display tropical indoor plants and flowering potted plants.
Thomas Wirth, of Thomas Wirth Associates, Sherborn, Mass., is the landscape architect for the project and the lead sponsor is the Southern United States Trade Association (SUSTA).
SUSTA's AmeriGarden at Floriade is directed by an advisory committee of industry members who are donating their time to ensure maximum benefit for the U.S. nursery industry. Representing the interior landscape industry is Joe Cialone, Tropical Ornamentals, Lake Worth, Fla. For more information on Floridae, visit www.amerigarden2002.com or www.floriade.com.
