ANLA Makes Structural Changes

The American Nursery & Landscape Association's board recently reworked its regional map, reducing the number of regions from six to four. Each region now will be led by two directors instead of one.

At a recent board of governors meeting for the American Nursery & Landscape Association (ANLA), the governing group approved changes to the organization’s leadership structure.

ANLA’s board opted to rework its regional map, reducing the number of regions from six to four. Each region will be guided by two directors instead of one. This transition will take three years to implement fully.

Based on the new regional map, the two “missing” regional directors will come from Region One (Northeast) and Region Four (West). And the ANLA board has appointed the following professionals to fill the vacancies for this activity year:

Region One: Immediate Past President Wayne Mezitt (who remains on the board for this year in that capacity)

Region Four: Past President Gary Briggs (who will remain on the ANLA board for another year to serve in this new capacity)

The group’s decision to appoint board members to these positions is meant to enhance leadership continuity throughout this transition into a revised governing structure.

Although many details of the change were solidified at the ANLA meeting in Boston, the board and staff are still making decisions about additional aspects of the leadership restructuring.
