For the sixth year in a row, Aquascape and a group of Certified Aquascape Contractors (CAC) will descend on Walt Disney World’s Epcot Center to create water gardens of the future. The water feature displays are an integral part of the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival. This year Aquascape and its group of CACs will construct six water features.
“We’re excited to showcase the future of water gardening,” says Ed Beaulieu, vice president of field research at Aquascape. “Water is our planet’s most valuable resource and we will demonstrate how we can be more responsible to the environment by addressing water conservation.”
Water feature displays will include a rainwater harvesting system, an 11-by-16-foot ecosystem pond, decorative AquaBasin™ fountains, and an indoor feature located in the Garden Festival Center. The planned water displays are aligned with Disney’s mission of sustainability and environmentally friendly initiatives.
The challenge each year involves building the displays in the middle of the night so as not to disrupt the grounds while visitors are present. Beaulieu will once again lead the crew for this year’s Epcot build.
Certified Aquascape Contractors participating in the Epcot project include Atlantis Water Gardens of Rockway, N.J.; Nature Coast Aquascape of Floral City, Fla.; Chris’ Water Gardens of Homer, Ill.; Tranquil Waterscape Designs of Franklin, Tenn.; Aquatic Paradise of Highland, Calif.; Liquid Designz of Township of Washington, N.J.; Pondscapes of Charlotte, Matthews, N.C.; Paradise Ponds and Waterfalls of San Angelo, Texas; The Pond Pros of Pompano Beach, Fla.; Landscape Basics of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; Pondtastic Watergardens of Kissimmee, Fla.; Earth Energy Landscaping of Menlo Park, Calif.; Waterscape Designs of Forestville, Wis.; Glencar Watergardens & Lighting of Hopewell Junction, N.J.; The Pond Crew of Katy, Texas; and Carter’s Nursery of Jackson, Tenn.
