Aquascape Unveils Display Modules

The modules are the company's newest selling tool to aid retailers in displaying and moving water garden product.

Aquascape unveiled its newest selling tool to aid retailers in displaying and moving water garden product – merchandise display modules (MDM). Through extensive field observations and interviews with store owners, managers, and employees, as well as pond owners, Aquascape deduced that the traditional water garden retail model was not as successful as it could be.

“Based on feedback from the field, we found that both our customers and their customers, present and future pond owners, were intimidated by the pond category … mostly by the fact that they didn’t fully understand all the products they were selling and how they worked in maintaining clean, healthy ponds,” Rick Weidman, Aquascape’s key accounts manager, said.  “Our goal with the MDM concept is to eliminate the confusion associated with ponds and make it easy for our retailers, especially those not fully trained and comfortable with the category, to confidently talk to their customers about pond building and maintenance solutions, as well as allow consumers to shop with ease and walk out with the right pond products.”

From that simple goal came the Aquascape merchandise display modules. More than just plan-o-grams, these displays were designed with the sales people and consumers in mind. Containing specific products that relate to each other, the MDMs not only sell the product, but educate the customers and employees with informational brochures about how they work in the water garden.  All the tools are there to help the customer make the right buying decisions.

The modules will be available in 2008, covering the following product categories: water quality, water clarity, fish care, plant care, pumps, lighting and decorative, and DIY Installation. A fall/winter pond care MDM is currently available for purchase.
