ArtisTree earns accreditations

VENICE, Fla. – Key personnel at ArtisTree Landscape Maintenance & Design have earned accreditations in professional mangrove trimming and in certified backflow device repair. ArtisTree now employs four professional mangrove trimmers: Ed Bingle, Steve Tanaka, Maria Muhlhahn and Shawn Gulbrandsen. Also, Irrigation Manager Leonel Gomez is now certified in backflow inspection and repair.
 
Mangroves are tropical plants that are adapted to loose, wet soils, salt water and being periodically submerged by tides. There are more than 50 species of mangroves found throughout the world. Three species of mangroves are native to Florida: Red mangrove, Black mangrove and White mangrove. Mangroves trap and cycle various organic materials, chemical elements and important nutrients in the coastal ecosystem while providing one of the basic food chain resources for marine organisms and roosting and nesting sites for many of the state’s birds.

A backflow prevention assembly is used to protect water supplies from contamination or pollution. There are more than 10,000 reported cases of backflow contamination each year. Some cases can be fatal.
