The board of directors of ALCM (Associated Landscape Contractors of Massachusetts) announces the organization's name has been changed to the Massachusetts Association of Landscape Professionals (MLP). The association's members approved the name change by an overwhelming majority via a special ballot this summer.
The association name change is the result of three years of marketing research conducted both inside and outside of the industry. It was determined that the new moniker - Massachusetts Association of Landscape Professionals - better reflects the hundreds of landscape professionals represented by the association and is more broadly recognized by consumers.
"Our new association name puts the emphasis clearly on our members," said MLP president Jon Ciffolillo, MCLP. "It allows us to more effectively market our professional affiliation."
Along with its new name, the new Massachusetts Association of Landscape Professionals is making other changes to improve its member experience and certification processes, encourage communication and collaboration among members and step up legislative activities and next generation involvement. The association's website is currently undergoing a makeover and the new site, www.MLP-MCLP.org, will debut this fall.
Among its offerings is the Massachusetts Certified Landscape Professional (MCLP) program, an exam designed to recognize individuals who have achieved a high level of competency within the landscape management and construction profession. The next MCLP exam is scheduled for Nov. 6, 2008, and copies of the MCLP Study Guide CD can be obtained from Charissa Sharkey, MCLP Certification Manager, at csharkey@MLP-MCLP.org or by calling 508/653-3373.
