SAN DIEGO – American Soil Technologies Inc. (ASTI) has expanded its market reach to existing turf applications of its Agriblend Plus soil amendment product by entering into an agreement with Advanced Agro Technologies (AAT). AAT distributes and markets DryJect 2200 (pictured at right), a material injection system that injects fertilizers and other dry materials directly into the soil.
ASTI announced Sept. 27 that the agreement between its Agriblend Division and AAT states that AAT will modify the DryJect 2200 for use with ASTI’s Agriblend Plus, a soil amendment that can reduce water use on turf. Agriblend Plus retards evaporation and holds moisture and nutrients in the root zone, allowing the plant to experience less stress between watering and chemical applications, according to ASTI. It remains active in soil for five to 10 years.
Using 3,500 pounds of water pressure, the DryJect 2200 will be able to inject Agriblend Turf formula into existing turf, including mature lawns, golf courses and athletic fields. The aeration provided by the unit allows deep root access with virtually no disruption to the surface of the turf. Sean Lee, executive vice president of ASTI’s Agriblend Division, said the machine will be designed to deposit product at a depth of 2.5 inches as that is the recommended depth for application of Agriblend Turf formula.
Lee said that because the product is biodegradable in sunlight, it must be applied below the turf. That requirement has limited use of Agriblend Turf to new lawns or freshly sodded areas. With the addition of DryJect technology to the mix, potential Agriblend uses are greatly expanded. "We have never before been able to put our product into existing lawns," Lee explained. "All of our business up until now has been new lawns or where you’re putting sod down when you’re able to get the product down below the root zone."
"We are very impressed by how easily the DryJect system can apply Agriblend Plus and other soil amendments," he continued.
