BASF Appoints New Executive Vice President

BASF has appointed Patrick Prevost as an executive vice president of BASF Corporation and as president of its chemicals businesses in North America.

He will be responsible for BASF's Petrochemicals, Performance Chemicals, Intermediates, Inorganics, Functional Polymers and Superabsorbents businesses in North America, with management responsibility for BASF's Canadian operations.

“Patrick’s strong industry and management experience will be invaluable as we reshape and optimize our chemicals businesses in North America,” said Klaus Loebbe, chairman and CEO, BASF Corporation. “In addition, Patrick will help us to enhance intrabusiness efficiencies and synergies within BASF that add value for our customers.”

Prevost comes to BASF after 21 years with Amoco Chemical Company and BP Chemicals. During his career, he held positions in technical service, business development, marketing and general management. From 1994 to 1997, Prevost served as Vice President, Chemical Intermediates, for Amoco Europe in Geneva, Switzerland, and from 1997 to 1998, he was Vice President, Global Business Management, Lisle, Ill.  When Amoco and BP merged in 1999, BP Chemicals named Prevost Chief Executive of the Terephthalic Acid (PTA) business with responsibility for the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, while based in Naperville, Ill. Most recently, Prevost was Vice President, Strategy and Development, and a member of the BP Chemicals executive committee in London, England.  He also served as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Amoco Fabrics in Germany from 1995 to 1998.

Prevost earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Geneva in Switzerland, and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Chicago.
