BASF Purchase Of Cyanamid Results In Web Site Change

Following a major change in the agrochemical industry comes a change in cyberspace as the web address previously used by the Specialty Products Department of American Cyanamid Company has changed.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Following a major change in the agrochemical industry comes a change in cyberspace as the web address previously used by the Specialty Products Department of American Cyanamid Company – www.cyanamidspd.com – has been replaced with www.spd.basf-corp.com. Either address points to the correct site for information on the recently expanded Specialty Products Department of BASF.

The web address change comes from one of the larger consolidations in the highly competitive agrochemical industry as German chemical giant BASF AG (Aktiengesellschaft) purchased the Cyanamid herbicide division of drug company American Home Products Corp., based in Madison, N.J. The consolidation was announced March 21, 2000, and was finalized in just three months to go into effect July 1.

The BASF Specialty Products Department web site allows users to find product information, labels, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), news and a list of industry links. The site also features a resource center that allows users to receive literature, newsletters, brochures, videos and how-to guides that can be viewed, downloaded in PDF format and sent through the mail.

The Specialty Products Department of the BASF North America Agricultural Products business, markets a wide range of products and active ingredients for the forestry, turf, ornamental, pest control and industrial vegetation markets. With headquarters in Research Triangle Park, N.C., it is a unit of the BASF Global Agricultural Products Division located in Mount Olive N.J.
