Bayer Environmental Science, Lawn Care Institute Launch Two Contests

Lawn Care Institute Business Planning Award rewards innovation in the industry; the Green Space Renovation Contest gives LCOs the opportunity to give back to their community.

Lawn Care Operators (LCO) around the country now have the opportunity to participate in two new programs thanks to Bayer Environmental Science. In an effort to further support the industry, the company recently launched the Business Planning Award and the Green Space Renovation Contest.

The Bayer Lawn Care Institute Business Planning award will recognize a green industry business that has implemented the most innovative and effective business development initiative to improve or grow their business. Proposals for nomination can include initiatives such as developing a website or reworking the daily routes for technicians to save on fuel and energy -- anything that has contributed to the company’s growth, success or advancement.

The winner will be announced at the Lawn & Landscape Leadership Awards Ceremony at the Green Industry and Equipment Expo in Louisville, Ky. in October. Selected by the Bayer Lawn Care Institute Advisory Board, the winner will be based on: the impact on the business; employees and/or community; application portfolio; effectiveness of achieving original goal; and level of creativity or innovation. To ensure that all companies, large and small, have a chance, submissions will be evaluated relative to the business’s size.

The Green Space Renovation Contest gives LCOs the opportunity to support their local community while generating awareness for their companies. LCOs are encouraged to nominate a public space in their community that is in need of a renovation. The space could be a public park, baseball field, playground or any other common area that brings the community together. Three winning locations will be selected by the Lawn Care Institute Advisory Board. Each company will receive a cash prize of $5,000 (to be used to improve the community space) as well as a donation of appropriate Bayer product to improve the green space. While Bayer is committed to donating the product and cash prize, the company nominating the space must commit to donating the time and manpower needed to complete the renovation.

The deadline for both contests is July 31. For more information or details on how to apply for either contest, contact Meredith Setzman at msetzman@tierneyagency.com.
