Formulators may now sell blended products containing fertilizer impregnated with Allectus. Use of blended fertilizer products saves an application, reducing treatment costs and saving time. “We really feel like the combination product segment of the market is growing,” says Bryan Gooch, insecticides business manager for Bayer. “The lawn care guys are getting squeezed with rising fuel costs and other issues that are hurting their profits and they want to get as much efficiency into their operations as possible. With a product like Allectus + Fertilizer, they can take care of two lawn care treatments in one trip, which can really boost their efficiency.”
| UPDATE: ALLECTUS PACKAGING |
In July 2005, Lawn & Landscape reported an announcement by Bayer Environmental Science that the company voluntarily recalled Allectus granular products due to a packaging problem. Bryan Gooch, insecticides business manager for Bayer told Lawn & Landscape today that the issue has been resolved and Allectus granular is available once again. "The packaging defect was a one-time issue and there was never anything wrong with the Allectus product itself," Gooch explains. "The product is already back on the marketplace with new packaging." |
Allectus + Fertilizer isn’t Bayer’s first entry into the combination market. Gooch says Merit + Fertilizer is a popular product for the company, as well as Ronstar on fertilizer in the golf market. Bayer’s Sevin and Deltagard products also are available on fertilizer.
“Now that the Allectus on fertilizer registration is approved, turf managers can select a formulation that fits their needs,” Gooch says. “They can apply Allectus as a granular, a liquid or on fertilizer.”
Allectus is designed to provide unprecedented control of turf pests both above and below the surface. As formulators receive their subregistrations for the new product, lawn care operators can look for Allectus on fertilizer coming soon. For more information, visit www.bayerprocentral.com.
