MONTVALE, N.J. – Bayer Environmental Science announced that new uses for Revolver herbicide have been approved by the Environmental Protection Agency. The changes include use on additional varieties of zoysiagrass and bermudagrass and new grasses controlled by the selective, postemergence herbicide.
“Several more warm-season turf varieties tolerant to Revolver were added to the label, including Baby bermudagrass and the zoysiagrass varieties Jamar, Palisdaes, Zeon, Zenith, El Toro and Cavalier,“ says Don Myers, herbicide development manager for Bayer. “To clairfy how to use the product, a statement has been added recommending that Revolver treatments occur in spring through fall when average daily temperatures are above 55 degrees F.“
New grasses controlled by Revolver also have been added to the label, including doveweed, Carolina false dandelion and little barley. In addition, recommendations to avoid tracking or movement after application to adjacent sensitive grasses were added to the label. They include:
- Allow a buffer zone between sensitive grasses and the treated area.
- Allow the product to dry on the leaf surface prior to permitting traffic on the treated area.
- Avoid application when heavy rain is imminent or when the soil is saturated.
- Irrigation is not recommended immediately after application.
Finally, for golf course use, goosegrass has been added to the list of weeds Revolver controls in bermudagrass greens, tees and collars.
