Brickman,a commercial landscape maintenance firm, announced its participation in an initiative called “GreenCare for Troops” in which it will provide free landscape maintenance services to about 50 military families whose primary breadwinner is serving in the Middle East. The purpose of the initiative is to help reduce the burden of running a household while a family member is away on active duty and recognize the contributions of our nation’s servicemen and women.

Organized by the national non-profit organization Project Evergreen, GreenCare for Troops is an outreach program whose participants include landscape maintenance providers from across the country. Brickman, which serves commercial clients in 23 states, has coordinated participation from 56 of its branches which are in close proximity to military bases. Each branch will ‘adopt’ a family and will provide basic landscape maintenance free of charge.
While Brickman does not normally perform residential service, it does provide commercial services for some military base housing, including Fort Campbell (Ky.), Fort Drum (N.Y.) and Robins Air Force Base (Ga.) among others.
“What’s made this country great is neighbors helping neighbors,” says CEO Scott Brickman. “It’s hard enough for our military families to bear their loved one’s absence, without the added burden of running a household on their own. It feels good to be able to help out, even in this small way.”
